After a foray into the reality space with the series Rise And Fall, Aahana S Kumra is all set to return to the big screen with her next film. Putul. Also starring Purab Kohli and Rajat Kapoor, Putul is a children’s film that talks about a turbulent marriage through the lens of a child, showing how it affects his mind.
Aahana S Kumra to star alongside Purab Kohli in children’s film Putul
Aahana plays Megha, the working mother of six-year-old Putul, who is going through a turbulent marriage with Purab Kohli and seeking divorce. Sharing her experience of working on the film, the actress said, “I shot for this project around two years ago in Dehradun and had a wonderful time. We shot at the beginning of the year and the weather was beautiful.”
Reflecting on her experience takes Aahana back to the past. “I spent almost a month there and have traveled the city a lot since my childhood with my sister. We make an annual trip there. So, Dehradun is an integral part of my being,” she says.
Directed by Radheshyam Pipalwa, Putul was screened at the Jagran Film Festival and Aahana feels that it was the best platform for the film. “It is one of the biggest film festivals in India and the film was screened in Meerut, which is my mother’s hometown. We had a full screening and the turnout was lovely. I was also pleasantly surprised by the outcome of the film.”
She clarified: “Putul talks about turbulent marriages from the children’s perspective and shows how it affects them. The film is about relationships, and this film festival provides the perfect platform for independent films, as it aims to bring cinema closer to its audience and connect film with the right viewers.
