Abhimanyu Dassani to lead film based on Galwan martyr Sepoy Gurtej Singh’s life : Bollywood News
The confrontation of the Galwan 2020 valley between Indian and Chinese troops, one of the deadliest military confrontations in decades, continues to inspire cinematographic stories. Following projects as Battle of Galwanwith Salman Khan and directed by Apoorva Lakhia, and Rahul Roy’s Lake: Battle of GalwanNow in streaming on YouTube, another film is in preparation, this time focusing on the life of the winner of Vir Chakra Sepoy Gurtej Singh.
Abhimanyu Dassani to run a film based on the life of Galwan Martyr Sepoy Gurtej Singh
According to a midday report, titled Galwan’s lion (Working title), the film will be produced by the businessman Himalay Dassani, husband of actor Bhagyashree. Their son, actor Abhimanyu Dassani, known for Meenakshi Sundaywar (2021), should represent the late soldier in what promises to be an emotionally charged performance.
Speaking of motivation behind the project, Himalay said: “This is the story of the life of the Sepoy Gurtej Singh. I was intrigued, so I traced his family in his village in Mansa, Punjab, and I acquired the biopic rights of his parents. ”
The story will cover three key phases in Singh’s life – its first years, the events of the night of June 15, 2020, when 20 Indian soldiers, including Singh and Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, were martyred in a confrontation with the body to body taken by the Indian government in response to Chinese aggression.
According to Himalay, research is currently underway with two teams stationed in Chandigarh and Delhi. “We are working in close collaboration with various ministries, the Indian army and government organizations to ensure accuracy. The film will also describe how the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs responded that night and how our soldiers fought with bare hands at icy temperatures. ”
The manufacturers plan to start filming in Ladakh at the beginning of 2026, because extreme winter conditions make filming impossible before that. Himalay adds that he is currently under discussion with three potential directors, and a final choice will soon be made.
Asked about the parallel project Salman Khan on the same subject, Himalay welcomed him, saying: “It’s like the Indo -Pake wars – each battle has several stories and perspectives. Salman playing Colonel Santosh Babu is a great thing. There is room for more than one film when the stories are also important. ”
