In a shocking breakdown of confidence, Juhu police arrested Vedika Prakash Shetty, the former personal assistant of Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, for having allegedly defrauded Bhatt from RS.76.9 Lakh. Fraud extended from May 2022 to August 2024 and involved both the actress’s personal portfolio and her company, Eternal Sunshine Productions PVT Ltd.

The complaint was filed on January 23, 2025 by Alia’s mother, the veteran actor-director Soni Razdan. A case was officially recorded under the sections relating to the criminal violation of confidence and cheating. The investigations led the Juhu police to initiate a national manhunt for Vedika, who remained elusive for almost five months.
Finally, Shetty was located at her sister’s residence in Bengaluru earlier this week and quickly brought back to Mumbai on a public transport mandate for a new legal proceedings.
Police alleys that during his mandate from 2021 to 2024, Vedika prepared false invoices and complaints of exaggerated spending, including trips, meetings and logistics arrangements. She used professional quality software to ensure that the documents seemed authentic. After obtaining Alia’s signature, the funds were transferred to an accomplice’s account, who then released the money to Vedika.
As a former secretary and trusted assistant, Vedika had privileged access to Bhatt’s schedules and finances. The alleged fraudulent activity has aroused many concerns about the vulnerability of high -level personalities in internal financial deception.
Vedika is currently in detention at the Juhu police station. The authorities meticulously examine its role in the regime and identify the alleged accomplices who helped to divert the funds. Legal experts predict the accusations under articles 406 (criminal violation of trust), 420 (cheating) and potentially under the law on information technology for the electronic counterfeit of documents.
The case sent shock waves via Bollywood, highlighting the need for stricter internal controls and financial audits within production and personal management. Lawyers and accountants advise celebrities and companies to adopt solid verification processes for third -party invoices and payments.
