BCCI Breaks Silence On Snubbing Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul As Captain: “15-16 People…”

Shubman Gill is officially the new test of the Indian cricket team. At a press conference in Mumbai on Saturday, the BCCI chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, announced the decision while revealing the Indian team for the series in five tests against England, which begins on June 20. Shubman Gill does not have an earlier experience to direct the test test, while the team that has been selected includes two players – Jasprit Bumrah and Kl Rahul – who have led the side in the past. The BCCI chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, was clear in his reflection process when asked the duo and their leadership chances.

“Bumrah because he led us to Australia but one, he is not available for all test matches. I think we wanted it more as a player. It is always an additional burden when you manage 15-16 people. It takes a lot of you. We prefer to do it as a player.

“With KL not really, basically, he was captain some time ago, but I was not there at that time. We hope he has a big series. But, as regards Bumrah, the fact of him in good shape as a bowler player is crucial.”

Agarkar stressed that a captain is not selected for one or two series and that long -term planning must be kept in mind during these calls.

“You do not select a captain for one or two series, you must plan in the longer term. We hope he [Shubman Gill] Will learn over time, “said Ajit Agarkar at a press conference.

At 25, Gill has become one of the youngest players to hold the position in recent years.
