BCCI’s Special Tribute To Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar

In a special tribute to two of India’s most famous cricket icons, the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) dedicated two chambers to its office in Mumbai, Maharashtra in Sachin Tresulkar and Sunil Gavaskar. The newly appointed rooms were officially inaugurated during a ceremony attended by the two legends, as well as several senior managers of the BCCI. Rajeev Shukla, vice-president of the BCCI, was present Tuesday at the event and then went to social networks to share his feelings.
“Delighted to be part of the inauguration of the newly dedicated Sachin Salle Salle and the Sunil Gavaskar room by @BCCI – A sincere tribute to two Indian cricket icons, Sachin Tentulkar and Sunil Gavaskar. Their heritage continues to inspire generations,” said Shukla in a post on X.

The presence of tendulkar and Gavaskar at the BCCI office made the opportunity even more memorable. The two players played a central role in the formation of Indian cricket – Gavaskar as a big original striker who faced the best of the world without fear in the 1970s and 80s, and Tentulkar as a modern maestro whose records and Aura defined a cricket era.
BCCI’s tribute is not only symbolic but serves as a lasting recall of standards, dedication and mind that these two legends have brought to Indian cricket. With their names engraved within the very walls of the cricket body which they formerly represented with pride, their inheritance is now a permanent element at the heart of the administration of Indian cricket.
Earlier, Rajeev Shukla applauded Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who announced his Test Cricket retirement on Wednesday, declaring that he had contributed significantly to the Indian cricket.
“Rohit Sharma has contributed a lot to the Indian cricket. He made the decision to withdraw from the test cricket. Our policy is that taking his retirement from any format of the game depends entirely on the player. We never pressures anyone or ask them to retire. He made the decision himself. He had to think.
“He managed the Indian test team very well. He contributed a lot to the Indian cricket. We will always remember his hard work. He also said that he would continue to play one day. He is a good thing. I think he is a very good player. He still has a lot of cricket in him and a lot of force,” he added.
