Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, was appointed Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year Award for a record fourth time. Fernandes is the third player to finish a quadruple victories, after the former teammates David de Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo. The price of the player of the year of Sir Matt Busby is decided by the votes of the fans. Fernandes was clearly winning after his impressive individual contributions throughout the campaign. Despite the difficulties of United in the Premier League, the no. 8 was inspiring, accumulating 38 goal implications (19 goals and 19 assists) in 54 games.
This is his second best seasonal count since his participation in 2020, and there is still a chance to finish up, with everyone impatiently anticipating the final of the Europa League next Wednesday in Bilbao.
Fernandes is the top scorer in the competition and was a pivotal figure during direct elimination towers, with the strengths, including his latest tripled to Old Trafford to see Real Sociedad and a double against the athletics club in the semi-finals.
De GEA came out in the lead in four years out of five between 2014 and 2018, while Ronaldo’s success three seasons added to the distinctions he claimed in 2004, 2007 and 2008.
Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Brian McClair, Wayne Rooney and Ruud Van Nistelrooy are the only other men with several player victories of the year since his first award in 1988.
Fernandes, who was also victorious in 2020, 2021 and 2024, came first in the survey at a certain distance, although AMAD could have brought it closer without the injury that held him between February and early May.
Third place went to Harry Maguire, who was the subject of Trumps in key moments of the campaign, in particular by marking the late Dramatic winner of their 5-4 victory against Lyon at Old Trafford.
