Deepika Padukone announces a reissue of Piku to mark 10 years of the heritage of the film
The reissue was announced by Deepika Padukone via her social media, where she published a video featuring Amitabh Bachchan remembering the film’s trip and announcing her theatrical return. In his legend, Padukone expressed a deep personal connection with the film, writing: “A film that will always have my heart – Piku is back in theaters on May 9, 2025 to celebrate its 10th anniversary! Irrfan, we miss you! And think of you from time to time… ”
The film, initially released in 2015, was congratulated for its anchored narration and sincere performances. He portrayed the link between Piku, a strong and independent architect, and his aging father, the Hypocondriac father Bhashkor, played in a memorable way by Bachchan. Irrfan Khan, in one of his most underestimated roles, brought a silent force to the character of Rana, the man who becomes an unexpected anchor in their lives during a road trip which redefined family dynamics.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar and written by Juhi Chaturvedi, Piku stood out from his treatment of daily relationships, nuanced emotional depth and the balance of humor and feeling woven in the story. The chemistry between the main trio gave the film an authenticity which sounded deeply with viewers.
The reissue also serves as a tribute to Irrfan Khan, whose death in 2020 left a void in Indian cinema. Its role in Piku There remains one of its most popular performance. The music of the film, composed by Anupam Roy, and its minimalist but relatable aesthetics continue to connect with the public. His dialogue and moments, in particular those involving subtle tensions and affections in the father-daughter relationship, have remained engraved in popular memory.
As Piku Back on the big screen, it offers both new audiences and long -standing fans to experience the film once again – this time through the objective of nostalgia and memory.
