Ektaa Kapoor claps back at Anurag Kashyap’s “Saas-Bahu” comment; calls it “classist”, urges self-awareness among artists : Bollywood News
The producer and television magnet Ektaa Kapoor responded strongly to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap about his recent comments rejecting the relevance of “SaaS-Bahu” dramas. Kapoor, who has been the face of Indian daily soaps for more than two decades, has not retained the call of the acclaimed director to be “classist” and lacking in grace.

Where it all started
The controversy dates back a recent interview featuring Netflix CEO, Ted Sarandos, on the Podcast of Nikhil Kamath, where Sarandos reflected the launch of the platform with Sacred Games – the gravelly criminal criminal thriller. Sarandos described the move as perhaps an “error”, suggesting that a “more populist” show could have worked better at the beginning.
Kashyap, which was essential to shape the first original Netflix India, went to Instagram to evacuate its frustration. Sharing of a title which quoted the comments of Sarandos, the Wasseypur gangs The director wrote sarcastically: “He should have started with Saas Bahu… He would have done well. What he does now. He then went further and called the CEO of Netflix “the definition of Dumb”, criticizing the leaders of the technology for not having understood the narration.
Ektaa explosive response
Kapoor, known for emblematic shows like Kyunki SaaS Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi And Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kiidid not kindly take the involvement. In an ardent Instagram story, she criticized the tone and the approach of Kashyap, by writing: “Ur so Dumb … saying that it put you on an advantage” I am smarter “but naaaaaaaa! But the artists who speak of an inclusive world are actually more classic.”
Interestingly, Netflix recently associated with Balaji Telefilms by Ektaa Kapoor, a decision that perhaps underlines the quarter of work Kashyap was referring, the pivot of the platform to more accessible and theater stories.
