After delivering films like Tashkent files (2019), Cashmere files (2022) and War against vaccine (2023), the director Vivek Agnihtri is back with another hard -hit film, Bengal files. To begin with, the film was not adopted by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) review committee. Bengal files was referred to the recovery committee (RC) probably because of its content. The RC passed the film but asked for some changes.
The RC asked manufacturers to delete the “contemptuous” words against the transgender community and to replace them with appropriate terms. Likewise, images of eminent personalities have been deleted and replaced. According to the RC directive, manufacturers have submitted support documents for historical events represented in the film. Manufacturers have also provided letters of consent to the parents of the children artists involved in the film. Finally, the warning was represented with a larger police force and also a voiceover.
Once these modifications have been made, the CBFC passed the film with a “A” certificate. The duration of the film, as mentioned on the Censur certificate, is 204.30 minutes. In other words, Bengal files is 3 hours 24 minutes and 30 seconds.
The censorship certificate was given to manufacturers on June 25, 2025. Almost two months later, on August 26, manufacturers again approached the CBFC to make voluntary changes to 29 places. The “100 years” dialogue was changed to “an old woman dementia”. A photo was added to a phone scene while in another place, a telephone video has been changed. Bharat dialogue Ko Ek Din Iska Bahut Bada Harzana Dena Padega“Has been reduced. The name of Gopal Mukhopadhyay has been removed in several places.
In addition, a scene of Vulture and Baby has been removed while in another scene, an owl scene was added. Manufacturers have also changed texts in several scenes.
The manufacturers made two additions – The duration of the newspaper scene was increased by a second. In another scene, the scene of the text and the newspapers was added to the place of another scene, and its runtime is 68 seconds.
In this way, the manufacturers deleted 1 minute 42 seconds while they added 1 minute 44 seconds. Consequently, the revised length of Bengal files is 204.32 minutes, or 3 hours, 24 minutes and 32 seconds.
Bengal files is the longest film in Bollywood for a long time. It’s a minute more than Animal (2023) and 4 minutes more than the theatrical version of Pushpa 2 (2024). He features Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi, Saswata Chatterjee and others. Everything should be released on September 5.
