Gujarat Titans had a disappointing start for its 2025 Indian League (IPL) season while the team led by Shubman Gill fell on 11 points against the kings of Punjab on Tuesday. Shreyas Iyer and Shashank Singh were the best interpreters of PBKS and although Sai Sudarshan played a brilliant 74 -point stroke, it is not enough to win the match for GT. A notable exclusion from the GT playing XI was the versatile of the Indian cricket team Washington Sundar. A fan questioned the movement on social networks and asked how a talent like Sundar did not make the team despite playing for the national team.

“How Sundar sneaks in the best 15 of India but does not get room in IPL XI when 10 teams exist is a mystery,” published the fan on the X social media platform (formerly called Twitter). The message received a response from the CEO of Google Sundar Pichai who commented on the post: “I wondered too.”

Captain of Gujarat Titans (GT), Shubman Gill, thought about the close defeat of 11 points from his team against Punjab Kings (PBKS) during their opening match of the in progress Indian League (IPL) in Ahmedabad.

Gill recognized that Gujarat had his moments but failed to capitalize on the key phases.

“We had our chances when we were in the bowling and striker. Too many points that we conceded at the back of the sleeves … These three overs in the middle, we scored about 18 points.

Despite the defeat, Gill found positive points in the performance of his team.

“Other than that, a lot of positive points for us today. Not easy for someone to come and deliver these Yorkers to someone on the bench. It’s always a good window to beat here,” he added.

The Gujarat Titans will now try to bounce back in their next games, learning of their mistakes during the opening of the season.
