The British-Thai pilot, Alex Albon, said that Thailand takes his candidacy to organize a Formula 1 race “very seriously” after meeting the Prime Minister and saw the plans for himself. Thailand is part of a number of countries wishing to welcome sport for the first time, with a race in the streets of the capital Bangkok. F1 chief Stefano Domenicali met Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra last month and Albon visited him before the Japanese Grand Prix of this weekend. “We are trying to help the current Thai GP and to see how we can help,” Albon, who rushes to Williams on Thursday and is the only F1 pilot in Thailand, to journalists in Suzuka.

Albon added: “He advances, obviously nothing is finalized but it is really good to see the commitment of Thailand.

“They take it very seriously and I think that as a product, they have a very strong product.”

Most of the 24 Formula One Calendar Calendar is confirmed for several years, but the gaps should open and Domenicimi suggested that Thailand could be a competitor to join the circuit.

The Albon, born in London, refused to give more details on what a race in Thailand would look like, but was impressed by what he saw.

“I saw a generic overview of what they are trying to do with it, and it looks good,” he said.

Formula 1 is currently organizing a race in Southeast Asia, in Singapore, which is considered the most difficult race of the season due to intense heat and humidity.
