Huma Qureshi starrer Bayaan selected for TIFF 2025 Discovery section; becomes only Indian film in line-up : Bollywood News
BayaanA procedural police thriller titled by Huma Qureshi, was officially selected for the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025 (TIFF). The film will have its world premiere in the Discovery section of Tiff, which makes it the only Indian title presented in the category this year.

Written and produced by Bikas Ranjan Mishra de Chauranga fame, Bayaan is a co -production between Platoon One Films and Summit Studios, with additional Kunal Kumar and Anuj Gupta producers, and Sadik Keshwani (guidance), based in Switzerland) as a co -producer. Huma Qureshi also serves as an executive producer.
The film was developed via the residence of the independent film, which is part of the World Media Manufacturers’ Program (GMM). During the residence, Mishra was supervised by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl,, The last of us), and received advice from the writer Jeff Stockwell and the editor -in -chief of Story Ruth Atkinson.
Mishra said: “It is my attempt to testify to a society in transition – and to the silent courage of those who choose to speak. I am deeply honored to present my second feature, BayaanAt the Toronto International Film Festival in the Discovery section – a platform that launched the trips of many filmmakers that I admire and darling. »»
Huma Qureshi, who has played in a number of Indian and international productions, describes Bayaan As a timely and powerful history of “exploring themes of power, faith and systemic injustice.” Bayaan gave me the opportunity to play the kind of character to which I have been attracted for a long time – someone in the judicial system, but against the much larger forces. It was an absolute joy to work with a team so passionate and fearless of telling a story that feels both vital and universal, “she shared.
The film also features Chandrachur Singh, Sachin Khedekar, Paritosh Sand, Avijit Dutt, Vibhore Mayank, Sampa Mandal, Swati Das, Aditi Kanchan Singh and Perry Chhabra.
Shilaitya Bora, founder of Platoon One Films, said: “We firmly believe that it is a film with Global Appeal, and Tiff is the perfect launchpad to start his trip in the challenge. This film really embodies this spirit”.
Bayaan Presents the cinematography of Udit Khurana as well as the publishing by the winner of the National Award A. Sreekar Prasad, the music of Ajay Jayanthi and the costumes of Shilpi Agarwal. The film is supported by the Hubert Bals of the Rotterdam International Film Festival.
