A cinematographic and breathtaking biography written by the acclaimed author Debleena Majumdar is based on the incredible true story of Sabu Dastagir, the Indian boy and a son of a mysore mahout who went from the elephant stables to become the first international film star of India and conquered Hollywood. Sabu made his debut in “Elephant Boy” based on history “Toomai of the Elephants” by The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling (1894), directed by the documentary filmmaker Robert J. Flaherty, who produced some of the best directors, and the director of Supervise Zoltan Korda, who finished the film and also won the prize for the director. The film was produced at the London Films Studios in Denham and Mysore.
He then played in Hollywood classics like The Thief of Baghdad, Jungle Book (1942) and Black Narcisse. A feeling at the box office, a war hero and a cultural bridge between the east and the West, the history of Sabu is as impressive as it is heartbreaking. He was inducted into the famous Hollywood renown in 1960.
