Captain of Chennai Super Kings, Ruturaj Gaikwad, offered a bizarre remark after the heavy loss of his team against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2025 on Friday. RCB recorded its first victory on the CSK field in 17 years and the team led by Rajat Patidar completely overcome the hosts in a dominant display. After the defeat, Ruturaj was asked about the defeat and he said that he was happy that his team did not lose with a big margin and that it ended up not being 50 points.
“I always think that 170 was a score by the counter. It was not so easy to beat. The bad alignment cost us.
“He (the counter) became a little slower, he became a little sticky. The new ball stuck a little. I don’t know how it happened. Rahul supported his shot, I also supported mine, sometimes it sometimes works.” Gaikwad said his team needed a lot of improvement in the field.
“I think that Fielding must improve a lot and we have to come back stronger in the installation department. We have dropped the upcoming catches and limits and they (RCB) continued and the momentum did not stop before the last.”
“But in the end, we did not lose with a big margin, it was only 50 points. Certainly a different scenario when you have three world class spinners in the team. You want new strikers to face them. This did not happen this time.”
“There is a long flight to Guwahati (for the next match), but we just have to present themselves mentally and see what are the areas we can improve,” he added.
