Kolkata Knight Riders Coach Has His Say On IPL ‘Pitch’ Controversy: “Who Will Not Be Happy…”

On Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders head coach, Chandrakant Pandit, argued the idea that the teams have greater control over the nature of the land in their places of origin, saying that they “also expect something to be provided” at the Eden’s gardens. The nature of the land at the KKR place of origin has been under discussion since Captain Ajinkya Rahane wanted to obtain more support for his spinners at the Eden’s gardens. “As a coach, as a team management, we … whatever the surface that has been provided to us, we play. Control, of course, which will be under conservative,” Pandit on the media told on Sunday.

Pandit, who refrained from making final comments on the subject, said that any team including KKR would like to play on locations that support their skills.

“Right now, my goal will certainly be in the next game tomorrow that we play,” he said before the shock against the Mumbai Indians here.

“For the moment, I certainly do not think of what to be done, what is under the control of who. But, let’s focus on the game of tomorrow which is very crucial for us.

“I do not know what the system is in different states or different reasons where the control is on the franchise. But, for the moment, what I understand is the surface which is given to us, probably, of course, as a team management, as a coach, as captain, we expect that something is provided. That’s all,” he said.

When asked if the IPL teams in general should receive more favorable throws in their places of origin for seven games out of 14 in the league, Pandit replied: “Who will not be happy with that? I mean, is it a simple answer.”

“Narine is in good shape, available for the game Mi”

Pandit confirmed that the versatile veteran Sunil Narine recovered from the disease and is available to face the Mumbai Indians.

“Sunil is 100%in good shape. He has definitely restored well and he has been training since yesterday. Today, he also trains. So he is absolutely well for the moment,” he said.

The Indians of Mumbai losing their two competitions in IPL so far, Pandit said that his team would like to exert additional pressure on the hosts.

“More than anything else, I would certainly think of the way our team played the last match. The Mumbai Indians did not do this (winner), so it is another advantage that we can exert pressure on them.

“But the match is played out in Mumbai and we have to adapt immediately to the conditions here and that is what we planned, (hopefully), we would be able to do so,” he said.
