St John’s (Antigua and Barbuda):

Kraigg Brathwaite resigned as skipper of the Antilles test team after four years of responsibility, four years of responsibility said on Monday. Brathwaite, 32, was appointed captain of the Antilles in place of Jason Holder in March 2021. Hope, who is also the team’s skipper, replaced Rovman Powell for Captain T20i. Powell has managed the T20 team since May 2023. In a statement, CWI said: “Brathwaite wanted to make sure the team had a transition period before its departure.

“This series will be particularly special, allowing Brathwaite, which is two games of 100 test games, to double its striker without additional responsibility.” A new test captain will be announced shortly.

The Antilles should play Australia in a home series in June-July, marking the start of a new cycle of the World World Championship (WTC).

“CWI is expanding its deepest gratitude to Kraigg Brathwaite for his years of service as captain, recognizing his dedication to the Antilles cricket and his leadership to guide the test team to important milestones. A new captain will be appointed in the coming weeks,” said the board of directors.

During Brathwaite’s mandate, the Antilles won their first test victory in Australia in 27 years with an exciting eight -point victory in Brisbane last year.

Earlier this year, he led the team to a memorable test victory in Pakistan to level the series, a first in 34 years.

His captain also saw the West Indies beat England at home in 2022 and ensured a 2-0 series victory against Bangladesh during the Pandemic COVID-19 in 2021.
