Liverpool Lift Premier League Trophy After Crystal Palace Draw

Virgil Van Dijk raised the Premier League trophy after Liverpool 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Sunday while the Reds organized a title party with their own fans for the first time in 35 years.

Arne Slot’s team finished its 20th English crown with a demolition from Tottenham in April, but the long -awaited trophy presentation was saved for the last match of the season.

The last title of Liverpool in 2020 was won during the Pandemic COVID-19, which means that the trophy was held in the air by the captain of the time, Jordan Henderson, in front of an empty stadium.

The Reds took advantage of their first celebration title in an Anfield crowded since 1990 while the crowd of 61,000 inhabitants celebrated with the big and good of the illustrious past of Liverpool.

“It’s always special to win something, but in some clubs, maybe a little more,” said Slot.

“I don’t think you expect something like that. If you look at the Premier League in recent seasons, it was always a race until the end.

“To be part of it, it was already pleasant, and even less to win it.”

Alan Hansen, who directed Liverpool in their latest trophy elevator in a complete Anfield in 1990, presented the Skipper Skipper Van Dijk.

Kenny Dalglish, the manager of Liverpool 35 years ago, was watching from the stands, just like Jurgen Klopp, who organized the triumph of the Reds Premier League in 2020 before leaving last year.

Fireworks, smoke and red adhesive tape filled the air while the trophy was paraded around Anfield, with the famous Kop stand decorated with banners and flags with slogans helped their heroes.

Even Trent Alexander -Arnold – Liverpool’s right rear rear controversial controversial in a move widely planned in Real Madrid – was embraced by fans during his last appearance for his childhood club.

Alexander-Arnold had been hua after being replaced by the recent draw with Arsenal in the first match after his announcement that he will leave at the end of his contract in June.

With Anfield in the mood of the party, Alexander-Arnold obtained an affectionate farewell when he was applauded when he left the bench in the second period, the defender born in Liverpool responding by kissing his badge.

“I have played hundreds of games for the club, but I have never felt as much loved and treated as today,” said Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool won none of their four games after sealing the title.

But that could not harm the festive atmosphere, which was in full swing before the match even begins as the Slot team received an honor guard on the field by the players of the palace, before the Reds made the favor to greet the winners of the FA Cup.

The goal of the ninth minute of Ismaila Sarr for Palace could not spoil the opportunity either.

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who had been reserved for diving, was shown a right red card after his fault on Daichi Kamada in the 68th minute.

But Mohamed Salah made sure that Liverpool avoided defeat in their final when he gathered the 84th minute.

Salah’s 29th goal this season was equal to the premier league record of most of the goal implications in a season, previously owned by Andy Cole and Alan Sheare, who both reached 47 in a 42 game season.

The Egyptian striker finished as winner of the Golden Boot of the Premier League for a record fourth time.

“It’s incredible. The last time, we didn’t have the chance to lift the trophy in front of the Kop. Today we are lucky,” said Salah.

“It’s an incredible feeling. Winning the second with Anfield fans, you can see what it means.”

The players of Liverpool met in a long line to sing the anthem of the club “You will never walk alone” in a catchy scene after the presentation of the trophy.

The party is expected to continue on Monday when Liverpool scrolls the trophy through the city on an open bus.
