Madras HC steps in as Boney Kapoor battles fresh ownership claims over Sridevi’s 1988 ECR property : Bollywood News

The high court of Madras entered a new legal battle involving the property of the late Bollywood Sridevi on the road to the east coast of Chennai (ECR), ordering Tambaram Tahsildar to make a clear decision in the four weeks. The case was presented by film producer Boney Kapoor, who accused three people of having fraudulently marked the land on land that his wife had bought in 1988.

Judge N. Anand Venkatesh, who chaired the issue, published the directive after hearing Kapoor’s plea to cancel a legal inheritance certificate obtained by the applicants in 2005. According to Kapoor, the document was wrongly issued in their favor and is now used to assert the rights to the goods of the Sridevi farm.
The disputed land has deep roots, going back to its original owner, Mc Sambanda Mudaliar. His family had divided the property between three sons and two daughters thanks to a mutual arrangement in 1960. Building on this arrangement, Sridevi legally bought the land on April 19, 1988, thanks to a recorded act. Since then, the actor and his family have owned the possession and use of the property, which worked as a farm retreat.
Problems have surfaced years later, when three individuals – who claimed to be the second wife and the children of one of Mudaliar’s sons – began to assert rights over inheritance. To support their complaints, they obtained a legal inheritance certificate from Tambaram Tahsildar in 2005.
Kapoor, however, strongly challenged the validity of their complaints for several reasons. His petition argued that the Tahsildar had no competence to issue such a certificate, because the original owner was a Mylapore resident. Most importantly, he said that the so-called second marriage was not legally valid, which makes the trio ineligible as legal heirs under the Hindu succession law.
Presenting all the evidence necessary to demonstrate that the purchase was authentic and duly recorded, Kapoor urged the court to recognize the certificate as fraudulent. Judge Venkatesh, after considering the two parties, asked Tambaram Tahsildar to examine the issue in depth and make a conclusive decision in the four -week stipulated period.
As the battle takes place, the dispute attracted attention not only because of the legal complexities but also because of the emotional weight it carries – by treating the heritage of one of the most popular stars of Indian cinema, whose premature passage in 2018 always resonates with millions of fans.
