In a historical demonstration of commitment to celebrate the rich culture of the narration of India, Netflix announced Kurukshetra, a new epic series which envisages the timeless dilemmas and the deep wisdom of Mahabharata. Conceptualized and created by Anu Sikka, the series is a production of tilting points, produced by Alok Jain, Anu Sikka and Ajit Andhare. Kurukshetra is written and directed by Ujaan Ganguly. The legendary gulzar poet and lyricist lends his voice to the project as official lyricist of the series, adding depth and gravity to this animated story.
Netflix marks the foray into Indian animated mythology with Kurukshetra
Seminal production, Kurukshetra presents Mahabharata as never before – through an immersive story that captures the emotional intensity and moral complexity of the greatest moments of the epic. The series takes place through the prospects of 18 key warriors, each sailing on their interior dilemmas, their personal vendettas and the devastating cost of a war between his brother. Taking life to the greatest Indian story ever told through the learning of the Dharmayudh (just war), the series will be launched in two parts of 9 episodes each.
Tanya Bami, head of the series, Netflix India, shared: “Kurukshetra is the first mythological anime of Netflix India and a real version of the Mahabharat. As part of its slate of growing original content, Netflix India is incorporated into the kind of animated mythology with Kurukshetra, a story of an epic bringing an ancient wisdom to the modern era.
Kurukshetra will be presented on October 10, only on Netflix.
