“No Fear Factor…”: Three-Time IPL Champion’s Clear-Cut Answer For Abnormally High Powerplay Scores

On Friday, assistant coach of Gujarat Titans, Porthiv Patel, said that the absence of a “factor of fear” in the strikers had led to increasing the “benchmark” power score in the Indian Premier League. Recalling that 45 was the ideal power game score for the IPL teams during his play days, the former goalkeeper India Patel said that cutting -edge throw specialists also helped the strikers to adapt to the pace. “There is no doubt about this. This planning has become (high). I mean, in the first year I started to open, our thought was (to mark) 45 points; if we get 45 for one, it will be a good power game (score),” said Patel to the media here before the shock of GT against Mumbai Indians on Saturday.
“Then it took 50 years, (then) 55, (then) 60. After having said, we must still look at the conditions. If you play Chennai, 150 was quite good. That is why you are not expecting that a brand 70, 80 (in power),” he added.
He said the brand desired in Power Plays had now been distant.
“But when you watch all the games, you generally tend to think that 70 is the reference index. In what type of conditions we play, which counts the most, but this reference has certainly went more than 45,” he said.
Patel said that training against lateral throw specialists has also helped strikers.
“The fear factor is not there. Strikers play definitively with less fear and that’s where they are very clear and they practiced them.
“There are certain specialists for work and that’s what happens with all the teams. Everyone is sufficiently capable of achieving these limits,” he said.
Patel said that such programs have helped Domestic Indian domestic crickets play more courageously.
“Each team has this kind of player. Strikers would have a minimum of 60 runs. (The practice of drummers increases like … the spider has definitively helped the Indian national players, because generally you do not see the skittles more than 140 kilometers per hour.
“This is what is happening with the weapon specialist on the weapon.
Patel said the Gujarat titans did not lack planning in their opening match against the kings of Punjab, but congratulated Shreyas Iyer and Shashank Singh for their execution.
The 97 of Iyer was not released and the rapid shot of Shashank 44 PBKS powered at 243/5 and despite their solid fight, Gujarat Titans did not succeed at 11 points.
“The result did not take place in us, but if you look at Chasing 244, we were just away from winning a match,” said Patel.
“There were quite a few positive points of the game we played. I don’t think there was a lack of planning. There was not the lack of plan A or Plan B or Plan C. We spent enough time preparing against each striker.” “You have to give credit (to) someone like Shashank, who succeeded very well last year, who knows how to finish these games. With Shreyas Iyer, we saw how well he fought well in the past year.”
