Pakistan spinner, Sofiyan Muqeem, set a world record on Tuesday, becoming the player with the highest individual score in position 12 in an ODI match. Muqeem obtained this record in the second ODI of his team from the three-game series against New Zealand in Hamilton. While continuing 293 against the Kiwis, Muqeem came to beat with his team at 174/9 and scored 13 balls in 10, with four and six. He also had a brief partnership with Naseem Shah, who broke 51 in 44 bullets, with four limits and four six.

Naseem himself failed Mohammed Amir’s record score from 58 to number 11, which he did against England in Nottingham in 2016. Naseem was the concussion replacement for Haris Rauf, who was struck on his helmet, therefore Muqeem being the 12th man of Pakistan, as by Wisden.

Kiwis beat Pakistan by 84 points in Hamilton to secure the ODI 2-0 series with a match to make. After Pakistan has chosen to move first, NZ put 292/8 in its 50 Overs. After being reduced to 132/5, the blows of Muhammad Abbas (41 in 66 bullets, with three four) and Mitchell Hay (99 * in 78 bullets, with seven four and seven six) saved NZ.

Muqeem (2/33) and Mohammed Wasim (2/78) were the best of Pakistan.

During the prosecution, Pakistan sank at 72/7 due to ardent spells of Ben Sears (5/59) and Jacob Duffy (3/35). A fight by Faheem Ashraf (73 in 80 balls, with six four and three six) and Naseem (51 in 44 balls, with four limits and four) helped Pakistan to reach a better position, but not a victory.
