Parineeta to re-release on August 29; Vidya Balan says, “Every frame of the film carries a piece of my heart” : Bollywood News
PVR stainless steel, the largest Indian cinema exhibitor, announced the reissue of the 20th anniversary of PainetaThe romantic drama adapted to the Bengali novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1914. The reissue marks 20 years since the original release of the film, as well as the beginnings of Vidya Balan in Indian cinema and 50 years of films by Vinod Chopra. The studio has restored all its 8K resolution film library, with a 5.1 surround sound. Part of the restoration was completed at Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna, Italy, a laboratory known for its work on the restoration of the film.

Paineta Succeeded both in a critical and commercial way when it was original in 2005. Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and made by the late Pradeep Sarkar, the film takes place in a specific period and presents music by Shantanu Moitra. He features Saif Ali Khan, Vidya Balan and Sanjay Dutt. Shot in various places in Kolkata, the film integrates the architecture and atmosphere of the city into its story, using the frame to reflect the tone and themes of history.
Speaking of the restored and remastered exit, Vidhu Vinod Chopra shared: “Paineta has always occupied a special place in my heart. It’s more than just a film – it’s a trip of love, elegance and moving music. Each setting carries its own emotion, evolving with the story in a way that affects something deep. And now, in the 8K version restored and remastered, the visuals are even richer and the beautiful places even more beautiful. I am so proud of Pradeep Sarkar for the way he made this film, the way he captured the greatness of the old Kolkata and infused him with a timeless beauty that still persists. »»

Vidya Balan, who made her debut with Painetasaid, “It’s a very emotional moment for me. Paineta This is where it all started … Each frame of the film carries a piece of my heart, and I will always be grateful to Pradeep Da (My Dada) and to Mr. Vinod Chopra for having believed in me. I owe so much who I am as an actor in this film. Even after all these years, people remember the film, songs and what it made to feel them. People say that each frame of the film is like a painting … and it is the magic of Pradeep Sarkar … so I hope that people and the new generation discover the love of the old world through Paineta. “”
Saif Ali Khan said, “Paineta It was a turning point for me – a film that allowed me to explore a quieter and more sober side of my personality. He had elegance, depth and a certain charm of the old world which is rare to come. By working with Vidya, Pradeep Da, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sanju and the whole team were really special. Sanjay Dutt shared: “Paineta Will always take a special place in my heart. It was a beautiful film, made with immense love and honesty. It was my second project with Vidhu Vinod Chopra, just after Munnabhai Mbbswhich was also produced by him. Pradeep Sarkar had a distinct and sensitive vision, and I liked to portray a character so discreet and real. I have wonderful memories of the shooting, and I am very happy that a new generation now has the chance to live it on the big screen. “Sanjay Dutt started his association with Vinod Chopra Films in 2000 with Cashmere mission And has since collaborated with the production house on several projects.
Paineta Received several awards when it was released, including the National and Filmfare Awards. The film will have a reissue of all India in certain theaters on August 29, 2025, exclusively for a week.
