Raanjhanaa AI-ending row: Eros International counters criticism from Dhanush and Aanand L. Rai, reaffirms ownership of 2013 film : Bollywood News
Eros International Media Limited officially responded to criticisms concerning the reissue of his romantic drama 2013 Raanjhanaa—Anomage with an alternative end assisted by AI. Reissue, also launched in Tamil AmbikapathyAwarded a public reaction from the director of the film Aanand L. Rai and the main actor Dhanush, who expressed his disapproval of what they consider to be an alteration of their original vision.

In an official declaration, Eros said that the modified version in AI is legally in conformity, supervised in a creative manner and specifically intended for a Tamil language. The company stressed that the original version of Raanjhanaa Remains intact and widely available on all platforms.
“It does not replace or modify the original Raanjhanaawhich remains widely accessible. This alternative edition is following a long -standing cinematographic tradition to offer creative adaptations and birthday re -editions, ”said the press release.
Intellectual property and property rights
The production house has affirmed its legal status as the only financial, producer and holder of the rights to RaanjhanaaAffirming total control over the intellectual property of the film, moral rights and derived content under the Indian law on copyright. The declaration also discussed the recent remarks of Dhanush, which implies that Anand L. Rai had personally invested in securing his casting in the film.
“Although such comments can reflect personal admiration, they are factually inaccurate and legally without consequences. No private or independent financial investment of Mr. Rai exists in the production, financing or the IP structures of Raanjhanaa“Said Eros, adding that the company has taken a full financial risk for the project and retains 100%property.
Objection to the association “Tere Ishk Mein” with Raanjhanaa
Eros also challenged the promotional material for the upcoming film of Aanand L. Rai Tere ishk meinwho would try to position himself as part of the Raanjhanaa universe. The company called this “illegal and deceptive attempt” and said that no rights, approval or property of intellectual property had been granted for such positioning.
An opinion of transfer and undressing, dated July 25, 2025, was issued to all parties involved in marketing and the creative direction of Tere ishk mein. Eros also informed the main OTT and streaming platforms to prevent any new representation. “This law represents a clear violation of copyright and the exclusive intellectual property of Eros,” said the press release.

Attack criticisms on the use of AI in the alternative end of AmbikapathyEros stressed that the project was guided by a human creative team, with AI used only as a tool for assistance, not as a generator of autonomous content.
“The dissociation of Mr. Rai from the alternative Tamil version is his personal choice, but his claim to ownership or the moral authority during the work is neither contractual nor contractual nor legally enforceable,” said Eros.
Clarification on legal proceedings
Responding to the accusations that re -edition is a diversion tactic in a continuous regulatory examination, Eros said that the NCLT procedure involving color yellow productions concerning corporate governance issues, not artistic rights.
