This is the first film which caused controversy on its reissue as a studio, Eros International, changed the end of the film using AI, without the knowledge and approval of its director, Aanand L Rai. If it were known that the new end is happy, as opposed to the tragic end of the original version, no one knew how it would be represented in the film. But now that the film has been released, the cat has come out of the bag.

The original end
Raanjhanaa Ends with an injured Kundan (Dhanush) brought to the hospital. He vomits blood, to the shock of his childhood friends, Murari (Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub) and Bindiya (Swara Bhasker). Zoya (Sonam Kapoor), the love of the Kundan, arrives and caresses the lifeless body of Kundan.
The end of the modified AI
In the new version, Zoya’s scene touching Kundan’s face is cut to another time where Kundan can be seen. Murari and Bindiya can be seen by observing the same from the outside of the hospital room. A few seconds later, Murari and Zoya also enter the room and can be seen smiling. Finally, Kundan opens his eyes. In the next shot, he wakes up as a festive background is played. The legendary final blow – featuring the Kundan Kundan and the adult Kundan Crossing Paths – follows and this is where the film ends.
What surprised the public is that the effect of AI was magnificently brought. In fact, those who have not seen the original version would not even be able to determine that the photo of Kundan’s awakening was not at all shot in real life. Meanwhile, there were spectacle reports with a good occupation and Dhanush fans creating a frenzy in the cinemas during the happy new end as well as other heroic scenes from their favorite actor.
Controversy
However, the decision to finish an AI end led to a TIFF between the studio and Aanand L Rai. Yesterday, Aanand wrote a long post on Instagram: “… I do not support or does not approve of the modified version of the AI of Raanjhanaa. It is not allowed. I had no role. The team that has not made the film either. And whatever he claims to be, it is not the film we wanted or made. It’s never just a film for us. He was shaped by human hands, human faults and human feeling. What is being traffic is not a tribute. It is an imprudent takeover that strips the work of its intention, its context and its soul. The idea that our work can be taken and modified by a machine, then disguised as innovation, is deeply disrespectful … “
He also added: “If Raanjhanaa meant something for you, as did us, know that this modified version in AI does not reflect who we were. Nor does he wear the spirit of the film we made. »»
Aanand L Rai had earlier indicated his dissatisfaction clearly on the “redesigned version” and shared a declaration. Consequently, Eros published a declaration saying: “We, to Eros International Media Limited, categorically rejecting and we strongly oppose the unfounded and sensationalist remarks made by Mr. Aanand L. Rai concerning the reissue of the AI-Amelioé of the reissue of the AI-Release of Raanjhanaa. These remarks are not only incorrect and misleading, but seem to be a deliberate negative comment designed to distract the attention of the public and the industry of serious and in progress legal issues concerning Mr. Rai and Color Yellow Productions PVT. Ltd. We consider the public explosion of Mr. Rai, in particular timed only a few days after these disclosure, as an attempt to focus on legal and governance issues that he is currently faced. It is regrettable that a filmmaker of his stature is trying to confuse legal responsibility with the creative victim. It would be preferable that Mr. Rai respectfully recognizes the property of intellectual property in accordance with the law of the earth and his written companies, rather than using the media unjustly as a platform to promote and prosper on unjustified sensationalism. »»
