Resham Kaur, the wife of the famous folk Punjabi and singer and politician Hans Raj Hans, died on April 2, 2025, at the age of 62 after a prolonged disease. She breathed her last time around 1 p.m. at Tagore hospital in Jalandhar, where she had received treatment for heart problems.

According to reports, Resham Kaur had been fighting for some time and had recently undergone a stent procedure. Despite medical efforts, his condition has not improved.
Her brother, Paramjit Singh, said she had been hospitalized for five days before her disappearance. The funeral is scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m. in Shafipur, the ancestral village of Hans Raj Hans.
Hans Raj Hans, a winner of Padma Shri, is celebrated for his contributions to folk music and Soufi Punjabi. He collaborated with legendary artists like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and contributed to several Bollywood films. The couple have two sons, Yuvraj and Navraj. Navraj is married to Ajit Kaur Mehndi, daughter of the famous singer Daler Mehndi.
Political leaders, including the Minister of Union Ravneet Singh Bittu and the National Secretary General of the BJP, Tarun Chugh, expressed their condolences. Bittu, in an article on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “May Waheguru grant eternal peace to the disappeared soul and give the family the strength to endure this deep loss.”
Shiromani Akali Dal, Daljit Singh Cheema, also expressed his grief, declaring: “It is a huge loss for the whole family. Resham Kaur Ji had played a big role in the life of Mr. Hans Raj Hans. She was a religious woman who supported Mr. Hans and the family through thick and thin. ”
The family has not yet published an official declaration concerning their death.
