Udaipur Files release put on hold by Delhi High Court amid fair trial concerns : Bollywood News
The High Court of Delhi put a temporary stop on the release of the film Udaipur fileswhich is based on the murder of the tailor Kanhaiya LAL. The film was to be published on July 11. The court order will remain in force until the central government makes a decision on petitions requesting a permanent prohibition of the film.

A division bench including chief judge DK UPADHYAYA and judge Anish Dayal ordered the petitioners to submit their grievances to the central government within two days.
The petitioners, who are accused in the murder case of Kanhaiya Lal, approached the court by arguing that the release of the film would compromise their right to a fair trial.
The bench noted that “certainly, the petitioners do not use the appeal available with the central government”.
“Since we relegate the petitioner to invoke the recourse to revision, we plan that until the provisional aid request is decided by the government, there will be the release of the film,” said the bench.
The tailor based in Udaipur, Kanhaiya Lal, was killed in June 2022, allegedly by Mohammad Riyaz and Mohammad. The accused later published a video saying that the murder had been carried out in retaliation for the alleged social media position of LAL supporting the former BJP chief, Nupur Sharma, after his controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammed.
The case has been under investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the accused was charged under strict illegal activities (prevention) law (UAPA), as well as relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The trial is currently underway before the Nia special court in Jaipur.
