He was captain in the Indian army, then worked as a teacher, then assumed a business role at Indian Oil Corporation, where he spent almost 25 years before retiring in 1992. Remarkably, he entered Bollywood at the age of 44, where he became one of the actors of the most recognizable characters in Indian cinema.
During his career, Potdar appeared in more than 125 films and nearly 100 television series. His dignified presence and his versatile representations – often as teachers, doctors, judges or father figures – made him a familiar name.
