Yuki Tsunoda Shines In Japanese Grand Prix Practice On Red Bull Debut, Oscar Piastri Fastest

Oscar Piastri was the fastest on Friday for a one-two McLaren in a second chaotic training for the Japanese Grand Prix which was struck with red four times and saw Jack Doohan crash strongly. Two of the red flags concerned fire-to-track fire fires during a seriously disturbed afternoon session during which the Piastri in Australia timed a better round of 1 min 28.114sec. He spent his teammates and Lando Norris championship manager by 0.049 seconds in dry but windy conditions in Suzuka, where the hero of the Yuki Tsunoda house turned out to be promising during his Red Bull debut.
PiaStri and Norris – who were the fastest first training – won a Grand Prix each in a dominant start to the McLaren season.
Piastri, who won the last time in Shanghai, called him “a little from top to bottom” after being 15th in the first training.
“But there have certainly been positive points in there,” he added.
“We have a few things to put away for tomorrow.”
The Australian recruit Doohan had the chance to leave unscathed after having seriously damaged his alpine in a heaviness in the barriers.
There were other dramas when the Spaniard Fernando Alonso failed his Aston Martin in the gravel and two fires broke out on the grass around the track.
Isack Hadjar of RB finished third faster, 0.404 seconds behind Piastri, followed by Lewis Hamilton from Ferrari and Liam Lawson from RB.
George Russell of Mercedes was sixth, followed by Charles Leclerc de Ferrari and the quadruple world champion of Red Bull, Max Verstappen.
His new Tsunoda teammate was a modest level of the 18th, 2,511 seconds behind Piastri, but without finishing a representative tour on the soft tires. He was a sixth promising in the morning.
The Japanese driver said that his first day of the first day in the Red Bull was “OK, but it could have been better”.
“We have not established a Tour time in FP2 due to the number of stops in the session, you might be able to call the session a mess for everyone,” said Tsunoda.
“Overall, it’s ok and I’m happy to have confidence in the car.”
Doohan high -speed crash
A second very eventful training was swirled in red at around 10 minutes when Doohan, 22, detached from the track and broke the high -speed barriers.
The car was severely damaged, a flying wheel on the impact.
Doohan quickly confirmed that he was unscathed and left the cockpit without help before being helped to return to the stands.
“After precautionary medical checks, we can confirm that Jack is fine. Now we are working hard to prepare the car for tomorrow,” Alpine said on social networks.
The session was interrupted for about 20 minutes and it only restarted a few minutes before it was stopped again.
Alonso broke the track and stopped deeply in the gravel.
The Spaniard missed by radio to say that he was stuck and that his car had to be distant before training could continue.
The red flag came out a third time when sparks from the cars sparked a small fire on the grass surrounding the track.
There was just enough time for another stop with 10 seconds from the remaining session when sparks started another fire.
The session marked a first hectic day behind the wheel of the Red Bull for Tsunoda in its Grand Prix at home.
The 24 -year -old was catapulted into a Red Bull seat last week when Lawson was just two races in the season.
Norris was the fastest during the first training session in front of Russell and Leclerc.
The qualifications for the Japanese Grand Prix, the third race of the season, take place on Saturday. The race is Sunday.
