Kidambi Srikanth Advances To Round Two Of Thailand Masters 2025




The medalist of the world championships, Kidambi Srikanth, qualified for the second round of the male event in single during the tournament during the badminton of the masters of Thailand on Wednesday. Srikanth, the world’s number 47, beat Daniil Dubovenko, 74th in the 21-13, 21-18 ranking in two successive games in Pathumwan, according to Olympics.com. Srikanth, who lasts a BWF badminton title for the last time in the 2017 French Open series, ran to a 6-0 lead against his opponent before the latter finds his rhythm. The Indian Naveter, however, kept calm and headed in the meantime with an advance of 11-4, finally winning the first match.

In the second match, Srikanth took the lead by 10-5, but Dubovenko retaliated brilliantly to level the scores at 15-15. Srikanth raised his tempo, closing the match on a high and setting a tour of 16 clashes against the world number 41 Jason Gunawan from Hong Kong.

In other competitions, Sankar Subramanian (male single), Kumar-Hariharan ribbon Amsakarunn (male double) and Rohan Kapoor-Ruthvika Shivani (double mixed) and Rakshitha Ramraj also reached the second round.

Sankar beat Cheam Jun Wei of Malaysia 15-21, 21-15, 21-19 in his opening round meeting and his next match will be against Chico aura dwi Wardoyo in Indonesia.

On the other hand, Ribbon and Hariharan beat the Pannawat of Thailand Jamtubtim-dratchapol Makkasasithorn 21-18, 21-12 while Rohan Kapoor-Ruthvika Shivani beat the Thai Weerapy Phakjarung-Sarat Chueboca 21-8, 21-16.

Rakshitha managed to exceed the Wu Luo Yu of China in a well-played match by 21-19, 21-16 to secure its 16-seat round.

Among the players who were eliminated from the competition, there was: Tharun Mannepalli, Sagé Kumar, Ayush Shetty and Mithun Manjunath in male singles, Tanya Hemanth, Shriyanshi Vishihetty and Tara Shah in the female competition of Singles and the pair of Indian men.
