National Boxing Championship: Shiva Thapa, Sachin Siwach Shine On Day 2

The defending champion Shiva Thapa began his defense of the title with a commanding victory over Enayat Khan in the Welter weight category (60-65 kg) during the 8th Elite Men’s National Boxing Championship in Bareilly on Thursday. Representative Assam, Thapa, who marked history as a younger Indian boxer to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games, beat Enayat 5-0 in his opening fight, giving a strong tone for his campaign. The former World Youth Champion Sachin Siwach also opened her campaign with a categorical 5-0 victory for the Sports Control Board (SSCB) service against Akshay, displaying her desire to compete for the best honors.
The second day also experienced an exciting opening fight with Devansh Solenki from the Rajasthan Battant Vikas Singh of the Uttar Pradesh with a unanimous decision in the Flyweight category (47-50kg).
In the same category, Ashutosh Yadav from Chhattisgarh delivered a dominant performance of Tour 1 to overcome Akleem Khan from Gujarat, preparing the field for an exciting action throughout the day.
The SSCB team has strengthened its domination with victories in several categories.
Hitesh Gulia, Deepak, Jugnoo and Vishal obtained victories in light divisions of average weight, Welter weight, cruise and heavy goods vehicles, respectively.
Rajasthan has also demonstrated an impressive form, with Priyadarshi Singh Ashiya (light average weight), Pushpendra Singh (Cruiserweight) and Harsh Choudhary (heavy goods vehicle) all victorious against their opponents.
Nearly 300 boxers, representing state units across India, are competing for supremacy in various weight categories in the one -week event, organized by the India boxing federation (BFI) in association with the Uttar Pradesh Boxing Association.
Representing their respective state units, each team offers up to 10 boxers in structured fights under technical rules and global boxing competitions, with three three -minute rounds and one minute rest periods between the towers. A 10 -point rating system is in force throughout the championship.
The SSCB team (services), the two champions in title, continues to pose a great challenge when they aim for their third consecutive title.
