Ms. Dhoni could lead Chennai Super Kings again when the five -time champions would face the Capitals of Delhi during an IPL 2025 meeting on Saturday. According to Indian ExpressThe availability of Ruturaj Gaikwad for the match is not yet confirmed after being injured in his forearm. Gaikwad was struck on his right arm by delivery of Tushar Deshpande during the match against the Royals of Rajasthan. The report said that Gaikwad did not train before the match and that CSK’s stick coach Mike Hussey said that a call would be made before the match. Without any other captain’s option in the team, Dhoni should intervene and resume the reins in front of the crowd of Home in Chennai.
“Yeah, we hope he will try to have a bat today for training. And, yes, it’s still a little painful, but it improves every day. So we are very hoped for, very confident that he will go well for tomorrow (Saturday),” said Hussey on the eve of the game.
Asked about the potential candidates of captain, Hussey made a sneaky reference to Dhoni.
“I’m not sure, in fact. I don’t think we thought about it too much. Well, I didn’t think about it too much. I’m sure (Stephen) Fleming and Rutu (Ruturaj) thought about it.”
“But we have a young guy who passes. He is behind the stumps. Maybe he can do a good job. I am not sure. He has a little experience in the role, so maybe he could do it. But I’m not really sure, to be honest,” said Hussey.
