The pace of Gujarat Titans Ishant Sharma was sentenced to a fine of 25% of its match costs and also accumulated a point of demerit for having violated the IPL code of conduct during the team of his team against Sunrisers Hyderabad. “Ishant Sharma admitted the level 1 offense under article 2.2 and accepted the sanction of the match referee. For level 1 violations of the Code of Driving, the decision of the match referee is final and restrictive,” said the official declaration of the BCCI.
According to the IPL code of conduct, article 2.2 relates to the abuse of equipment or cricket clothing, floor or lighting equipment and fittings for a match.
It also includes any action outside the course of normal cricket actions, such as hitting or kicking at the counters and any action (s) which deliberately (that is to say intentionally), recklessly or negligent (in both cases, even if it is accidental) leads to damage to advertising cards, borderline fences, the doors of the changing rooms, mirrors, windows and other elements.
