Red Bull announced Wednesday that Mexican driver Sergio Perez left the Formula 1 team after four seasons. Perez, 34, joined Red Bull in 2021 and helped the team win two manufacturers’ titles and completed a Driver Standing one two with the quadruple world champion Max Verstappen in 2023. “I would like to thank Check (Perez) for all that he has done for Oracle Red Bull Racing in recent seasons,” Red Bull Team Horner said in a statement. “From the moment he joined in 2021, he turned out to be an extraordinary team player, helping us with two manufacturers’ titles and our first 1-2 in the pilot championship.
“Although Checo does not run for the team next season, he will always be a member of the extremely popular team and a precious part of our history. Thank you, check.”
Perez won five Red Bull Grand Prix in color, including a victory at the MONACO GP and a double in Azerbaijan.
However, its shape plunged into the 2024 season, leading to rumors about its future in the team.
He arrived in the pilots ranking while Red Bull returned the title of their team to McLaren with third place.
“I am incredibly grateful for the last four years with Oracle Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to run with such an incredible team,” said Perez.
“Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience and I will always cherish the successes we have achieved together.
“A big thank you to each person on the team … I wish you all the best for the future.
“It was also an honor to run alongside Max as a teammate all these years and to share our success.”
Red Bull added in their statement that “the announcements concerning the full range of the 2025 team will be made in due time”.
The New Zealand Liam Lawson is considered the favorite to replace Perez.
