Heinrich Klaasen Left Out Of South Africa’s Central Contract List; David Miller Take Hybrid Deal




Heinrich Klaan’s international cricket career could be in danger after being excluded from the list of central contracts of 18 South Africa cricket players (CSA) which will take place from June 1 to May 31 of next year. Having retired from the Cricket test in January 2024, Klaasen was on a contract only by white shot in the previous cycle and would focus on his career in League T20 in the future. Meanwhile, CSA in a statement said that “discussions concerning his future are underway and that a final decision will be taken in due course”. With the introduction of hybrid contracts, David Miller and Rassie Van der Dussen will be contracted to participate in specific bilateral visits and ICC events.

National contracts were first awarded to Save Bowler Lizaad Williams and Senuran Muthusamy, versatile. They are joined by the fast launcher Kwena Maphaka, who made her international debut in all formats last season.

The versatile Wiaan Mulder, the striker David Bedingham and Kyle Verreynne have all obtained contractual upgrades during the current season and were kept for the coming season.

The contracts will cover a busy season for the national team with bilateral tours in Zimbabwe, Australia, England, Pakistan and India, as well as a series at home against the Antilles.

The calendar will also include two main CPI events: the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, which will take place in Lord’s in England in June, and the T20 2026 World Cup, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka at the start of next year.

The director of national teams and Enoch NKWE, high performance, said: “I want to congratulate all the players who have received national contracts for the next 12 months, in particular the players who have been contracted for the first time. All these players were contracted with the importance of the next cycle of the World Test Championship and the 2027 Cricket World Cup on home.

“Hybrid contracts take into account the dynamic nature of modern cricket and will offer David and rest the possibility of contributing to the team during specific bilateral visits and ICC events. An exciting season is waiting for us to compete for the WTC mass and consider a step further in the T20 World Cup of next year.
