The Test of India and Captain Odi Rohit Sharma should be the Ambassador of the T20 Mumbai League with the MCA expressing the hope that the other stars of the city such as Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav will make themselves available for the event which was interrupted through the Pandemic of Cavid-19 after two editions. The league took place in 2018 and 2019 before the pandemic led to its suspension. Rohit retired from international T20 but continues to play in IPL.

Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Tushar Deshpande and Prithvi Shaw are some of Mumbai’s popular players. The Yashasvi Jaiswal test opener moved to Goa a few days ago. Most of them are occupied by their IPL commitments at the moment. The MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) event will not start before IPL’s conclusion on May 25.

“We have not made them compulsory for them to play, but we are very expecting that they play in the T20 Mumbai League. Their participation will help Mumbai Cricket to grow and will benefit players and the league,” an MCA official told PTI.

Rohit will be present at an event to announce the League on Friday.

We also learn that the MCA is considering a salary of RS 15 Lakh each for the “icon players” of the competition.

The MCA received more than 2,800 admissions for the event.

The tournament will include eight teams with two new teams to announce soon.

The other six teams are northern Mumbai Panthers, Andheri Arcs, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Namo Bandra Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs.
