Badminton: Ayush Shetty, Sankar Muthuswamy Qualify For Swiss Open Main Draw

The Indian shuttles Ayush Shetty and S Sankar Muthuswamy Subramanian qualified for the main draw of the Swiss tournament Open Super 300 badminton with dominant performances in qualifying here on Tuesday. Shetty exceeded Cholan Kayan from England 21-12, 21-15 in 42 minutes to secure its place in the main round. The 19 -year -old Indian will face Kenta Nishimoto from Japan during his opening on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Muthuswamy had to fight through two laps, first beating Yuehang Wang 21-13, 21-4 in just 23 minutes before overcoming compatriot Tharun MannePalli 21-7, 21-10 during the final qualification round.
He will face Magnus Johannesen of Denmark in his first round match.
The main round in simple men will thus include six Indians, including four direct entrances – Srikanth Kidambi and HS Prannoy who will face the first round, Priyanshu Rajawat and Kiran George.
George is opposed to Rasmus Gemke from Denmark, while Rajawat will face local player Tobias Kuenzi.
