In a poignant and revealing interview with filmfare YouTube, Shabana Azmi thought about his experiences with the Enigmatic but Troubled Babi Parveen, one of the most glamorous stars of his time. Azmi, known for his frank ideas, said moments on filming sets where the drop in the mental health of Parveen has become visible alarming.

“I saw Parveen Babi get crazy before my eyes. We made a prakash mehra movie, JwalamukhiAnd we were on the set, and she suddenly looked at the chandelier and started to shout: “This chandelier will fall on me,” recalls Azmi. AshantiWhere Babi’s eating habits had radically changed. “She ate two grapes and said that I burst,” she added, pointing possible symptoms of severe anxiety or a diet.
The veteran actress also described a moment involving actress Zeenat Aman who left her a deep concern. “She went and was held behind her and looked at her in a very strange way,” said Azmi, stressing how erratic behavior had started to emerge in the interactions of Parveen.
These stories put not only the intensity of the interior agitation of Parveen Babi, but also reflect the silence that often surrounded such problems in the film industry during the 1970s and 80s. “We have never spoken of it,” admitted Azmi. “She always talked about esoteric things, discussing books, and she was a big star, but she never played the star as such, but she was looking for an intellect that was not really easy, but she was fighting with something.”
