The Skipper of the Indians of Mumbai (Mi), Hardya, won the draw and chose to play the first against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during the 18th edition of the Indian Premier (IPL) on Wednesday. The two captains took a moment to express their condolences to the victims of the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam which occurred on Tuesday.
Addressing the incident, the captain of Mi Hardy Pandya said: “feels good (on applause). I would first like to condole my condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack. As a team and franchise, condemning such attacks.”
On the match, he added: “We are going to play first this evening. It looks like a good track. A single change for us – Vignesh arrives for Ashwani. We just have to run our plans and take the game as simply as possible, plan correctly.”
The Sunrisers skipper Hyderabad, Pat Cummins, also expressed his pain about the attack, declaring: “It was also heartbreaking for us, our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
Speaking of the game, Cummins said: “A change for us – Jaydev arrives, Shami comes out on the list of impact players. It is a cause of optimism, we know this surface and this soil very well. We have played a very good cricket this year.”
While the teams compete in a crucial meeting in mid-season, the two parties will be impatient to grasp the two points offered and improve their ranking in the tournament.
