Responding to the apologies of Kangana, the wife of Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, spoke exclusively to this writer. She said: “They had not asked for any monetary compensation but for his apologies in writing. The victory is his and his lawyer Jay Bhardwaj. But I am mystified why the press gave the impression that it was mutual regulation, but did not mention that it was the excuses in writing that he was looking for and why he had fought the case for four and a half years.”
In an earlier interaction just after the apologies of Kangana, Javed Akhtar had said to this writer: “She gave a letter of regret and apologize. Unconditionally, removed all of his words. And the statements have been initiated, which I would not repeat them anymore.
