The actor Tamil Ajith Kumar received the Padma Bhushan, the highest third civil prize in India, by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan from New Delhi on Monday, April 28. As revealed by the government of the Union.

Earlier in the day, the photos and videos of the actor and his family from Chennai airport became viral on social networks.
Ajith, one of the most important figures in Indian cinema, has played in more than 60 films during his career which extends over more than 30 years. After making a brief appearance in the 1990 film In veedu in kanavarHe made his debut in 1993 with Amaravathi. Initially known for his roles in films focused on romance, Ajith then moved to roles full of action at the turn of the century, with films like Ammarkalam,, DheenaAnd Citizen.

The star, who balances a successful career as a motor sports runner and team owner, is also a shooting champion at the level of the state. Last week, April 20, his racing team, Ajith Kumar Racing, won second place at the famous Francorchamps Spa circuit in Belgium.
During the same ceremony, actor-political Nandamuri Balakrishna and veteran director Shekhar Kapur were also honored with the Padma Bhushan. The other notable recipients in the cinema industry were Annant Nag and Shibana Chandrakumar, both rewarded Padma Bhushan, and Ricky Kej, who received the Padma Shri.
The renowned Malayalam author and screenwriter Mt Vasudevan Nair, who died last year at the age of 91, posthumously received the Padma Vibhushan, with the late singer Pankaj Udhas.
Padma Awards, one of the country’s highest civil honors, are presented in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. These prestigious prizes recognize achievements in a wide range of fields, including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, etc.
