“Should Not Shower Vaibhav Suryavanshi With…”: Rahul Dravid’s Blunt Take On IPL’s 14-Year-Old Sensation

Rahul Dravid does not want microscopic attention on Vaibhav Suryavanshi of 14 years after his hundreds of courses in the IPL, but after having said, the head coach of Rajasthan Royals knows that it is something that he cannot control. Having received a barrage of questions about Suryavanshi in the Sports Star press room, Dravid realized that the world of cricket will not leave the talented teenager from now. The Bihar teenager will have to find a way to manage this celebrity overnight, he said.
In interaction, the former head coach of India also discussed the special skills of Suryavanshi who make him a great T20 striker at such a young age before adding that there remains a work in progress.
“I think that it will not be possible to avoid him completely from the experience around him. I cannot control what people talk about him. I came to this interaction and all that I have heard, these are questions about Vaibhav,” said Dravid when asked about the protection of the young of the hysteria who surrounds him.
“It’s going to be difficult for him, but it’s exciting at the same time. I would like to say that we should not shower it with so much attention. Maybe I’m naive because it won’t happen.
“Recognize that this happens and put a certain level of support around this and navigate this attention and allow him to be a young person. It is part of being a cricket player in this country, it is impossible to move away and (you tend to do).”
Amazed by his rapid judgment of length and fearlessness
As a coach of India U-19, Dravid has fueled the tastes of Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, Yashasvi Jaiswal and many other exciting talents. Asked about Suryavanshi, Dravid explained what makes him special.
“For me, it is really the ability to have this level of fearlessness and not to be disconcerted on the occasion. You do not see that with such young people. The range of blows he has shown.
“He will only improve. Nobody says he is a finished article. No one should rush to call him someone he is not. The teams will be smarter against him. The T20 format is such as he will have games where it will not work,” he warned.
The capacity of six Suryavanshi kicks also stands out. He cleared the strings 11 times in his 35 balls against a powerful attack of the Titans of Gujarat.
“What gives it power is a good bat speed, a high backlift, a look-of-one coordination. His length judgment is something that surprised me, whether it is fractionally short or full, he can take advantage of it. His natural force is useful in this situation,” said the great Indian.
A video clip from Suryavanshi was shown during the interaction where he was seen to rent Dravid for having made him a better cricket player in the last three months. As the images ended, Dravid played the role played by him in his ascent.
“The biggest credit goes to him. It would be bad on my part to take credit to him. He went through a system (after playing in first class and in India U19.
“His father has been favorable. Here, in the Royals of Rajasthan, so many people have been involved … We will ask him questions and he must give a diplomatic answer,” said the former captain of India with a smile.
“We are trying to stay simple with him. For us, it is important that he plays the kind of cricket he likes to play … It is quite obvious that he likes to play the attacking cricket brand. We have chosen him not to keep his age in mind, we were convinced of his talent,” he added.
