Found Ball Tampering And Security Issues Challenging: Just-Retired ICC Match Referee David Boon

The retired ICC match referee David Boon said that falsification of the ball and security problems were the biggest challenges he found “confronted” during his 14 -year term. Boon officiated in 87 tests, 183 ODI and 119 T20is in the male game and seven female T20is. The former 64 -year opening of Australia, who will join Australia Cricket (CA) as a director to continue her longtime association with sport, watched the joys and challenges of officer in international matches. “I think there are challenges that you have to take up every day. You learn something every day. I guess there are certain things that are a little more confronted, I found.

“When I started one of these (challenges) was the falsification of the ball that I found very confronted … to accuse someone not to do the right thing,” said Boon in a video shared by ICC on X.

“And when there is a security and security problem, they were extremely difficult. Unfortunately here in Dacca, Bangladesh and one in Christchurch, but you worked through … You take 10 deep breaths and you go,” said Boon, referring to the attack on the mosque in New Zealand in March 2019.

Boon, whose participation in competitive cricket started in adolescence in the 1978/79 season when he made his debut for Tasmania, ended his international career with 13,386 points and 26 centuries over 12 years.

Boon, who was a national selector for 11 years from 2000 and supervised a golden period for the male team when he won two ICC World Cups and two title of champions trophy, also shared his reflections on the rhythm of the game and qualified him as concern.

“I’m not sure of the over-sur-sur-sur-, we have good. The game rhythm can be a problem,” said Boon.

“I hope that from an administrative point of view, we have a massive umbrella on the cricket, and each nation considers itself in this umbrella form rather than their own small pieces of lawn,” said Boon.

The test match that has just been concluded between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh was Boon’s last match referee.

“It is with mixed emotions that I end my time as a match arrest with the ICC. It was an incredible honor and pleasure to be part of this trip covering almost 14 years,” said Boon.

The president of the ICC, Jay Shah, paid tribute to Boon, who will now take a stand on the Australia Cricket Board of Directors.

“On behalf of the International Cricket Council, I am extending my gratitude to David Boon for his exceptional service as an ICC game,” said Shah.

“His professionalism and integrity have established a reference for the leaders of the match through sport,” added Shah.
