The former star of the Indian Cricket team, Virender Sehwag, was not impressed by the captain of Shubman Gill while the Titans of Gujarat collapsed on Tuesday against the kings of Punjab in IPL 2025. Gujarat Titans produced a bad display of bowling and was finally beaten by 11 points. Sehwag said Gill was neither ready nor proactive in his approach and that it turned out to be a major factor. Sehwag specifically pointed out how he used the quick launcher Mohammed Siraj and said he had been removed from the attack too early in the power game.

“I thought that captain of Shubman Gill was not up to par, he was not ready, he was not proactive. When Siraj was well Bowling, he brought Arshad Khan, who, I think, conceded 21 points in the power game and that changed the momentum,” said Sehwag speaking out of 21 Cricbuzz.

“If Siraj Bowling well with the new ball, it is useless to hold it for the dead and you see that it was also hit at the end,” added Sehwag.

Captain of Gujarat Titans (GT), Shubman Gill, thought about the close defeat of 11 points from his team against Punjab Kings (PBKS) during their opening match of the in progress Indian League (IPL) in Ahmedabad.

Gill recognized that Gujarat had his moments but failed to capitalize on the key phases.

“We had our chances when we were in the bowling and striker. Too many points that we conceded at the back of the sleeves … These three overs in the middle, we scored about 18 points.

Despite the defeat, Gill found positive points in the performance of his team.

“Other than that, a lot of positive points for us today. Not easy for someone to come and deliver these Yorkers to someone on the bench. It’s always a good window to beat here,” he added.
