Postecoglou Hits Back At Arsene Wenger Over ‘Crazy’ Spurs Claim

Angel Postcoglou criticized Arsène Wenger’s “crazy” assertion that Tottenham should not be allowed to qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League. The disturbed side of PostCoglou can seal a place in the Europa League final when they confront Bodo / Glimt in the semi-final in the second stage in Norway on Thursday. Tottenham won the first leg 3-1 as they seek to set up a final force test with Athletic Bilbao or Manchester United, which enters their return match with a 3-0 advantage.
Despite the language in 16th place in the Premier League, the glory of the Europa League will allow them to qualify the Champions League due to a UEFA rule in place since the 2014-2015 campaign.
United is a place above Tottenham in English high flight after an equally bad national campaign.
And the former boss of Arsenal Wenger, currently responsible for the world development of football at FIFA, told Bein Sport this week that Tottenham and United should not be able to participate in the European elite competition via the Europa League, urging UEFA to “examine” their rule.
The Postcoglou subfu responded to Wenger’s controversial comments acerbedly.
“Well, I mean that it is a debate that has been raging for years, like at least the last eight days,” Postcoglou told journalists on Wednesday.
“I have never heard that before. I have already said it, guy, Spurs does crazy things to people. This is the case.
“You put this club in any sentence or any problem and invariably they all go out and try to decrease as much as they can.”
Although the Tottenham troubled season hardly guarantees a place in the Champions League, Postcoglou said that victory in the Europa League would make it a dignified achievement.
The Australian cannot understand why Wenger has raised the subject now, insisting that the rules should be respected.
“Why was there no problem before and it’s a problem now? What is the difference? I don’t understand what is the difference,” he said.
“Last year, the fifth did not bring you into the Champions League this year, what does that mean?
“There are competition rules and the rules say that the winner enters the Champions League and that it is not the first year.
“And there is no asterisk against that that you should also do something else, but these are the spurs, guy, they love it. They love it.
“I have great respect for Arsène. He is one of the legends of the game, but that makes people crazy, guy. I love it, puts it. It will upset people, so it makes me happy.”
When he was asked if Tottenham had also made him crazy during a season when he faced constant speculation about his future, Postcoglou said: “It did not go crazy at all.
“I was talking about others, I was not talking about myself. I was asked the question on this subject, there is a great unleashed debate on the legitimacy of us or the man that you are potentially in the Champions League next year.”
