The former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, expressed his disappointment that fans are unable to see Virat Kohli in action during the Test of England when the former captain of India announced his retirement. Congratulations Kohli for his illustrious career in red ball cricket, Sunak wrote that the 36 -year -old striker was a legend of the game and will miss fans of the next Indian Tour of England. “Sad, we will not see @imvkohli one last time this summer. He was a legend of the game: a superb drummer, a clever captain and a formidable competitor who has always understood the real value of the test cricket,” wrote Sunak, the first Prime Minister of Indian origin for the country who invented Cricket, in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Sunak is a cricket enthusiast and appreciated his interactions with cricket players during his time as British Prime Minister. In March 2023, he welcomed the male team of England winning the T20 World Cup at 10 Downing Street and also played an impromptu garden cricket game with them.

During his mandate as British Prime Minister of October 25, 2022 to July 5, 2024, Sunak announced an investment of 35 million pounds in basic cricket facilities and expand access to sport in public schools as part of the British government’s decision to obtain one million young people more active by 2030.

Virat Kohli announced on Monday his Test Cricket retirement, pulling the curtains over a mandate of 14 years during which he played 123 tests, marking 9,230 points at a stick average of 46.85 and displaying 30 centuries and 31 semi-cintimes. He had a higher score of 254 not released. Kohli had led India in 68 tests, winning 40, which makes him the most successful captain of the Indian team.
