Understand yourself and unlock the maximum potential you have as a cricket player, is a former captain of India and mantra of head coach Rahul Dravid for all those who aspire to take sport professionally. Dravid, who works with the Royals of Rajasthan in IPL during the current season after guiding India towards the triumph of the T20 World Cup, spoke to `Jiohotstar ” during an episode of ‘halla bol’. “The simple fact of being good in cricket and simply practicing cricket will give you a certain distance, but the very good players, the great players with whom I had the privilege of working with or to share a locker room, one of the common things that I see in all, is that they really know who they are as a person,” said Dravid, the second top scorer in Test Cricket.
“I think that if you know who are as a person and grandis as a person, you are giving yourself the best chance of maximizing your potential,” he added.
The gift of sporting talents can only take one person so far, feels dravid.
“… We have given you a talent to become the best cricket player you can be, you must also grow as a person and you have to understand yourself as a person on and off the field to maximize your potential,” said Dravid in the video.
He clearly indicated that he did not believe in comparisons.
“It’s individual, you cannot judge yourself with other people, compare yourself with other people.
