Australia Star Travis Head To Miss IPL Clash After ‘COVID-19’ Setback: “Couldn’t Travel…”

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Travis Head will miss the match against Lucknow’s Super Giants (LSG) on Monday, revealed head coach Daniel Vettori. Speaking at a press conference on the eve of the match, Head will miss the match when he will arrive in India tomorrow after recently contracted Covid-19. “He had a covid-19, and unfortunately, he could not travel,” Vettori told journalists. “We hope to put it back for the next match once it is completely recovered and authorized to join the team,” he added.
Last week, the 18th edition of the league rich in cash was suspended due to the cross -border tensions of India with Pakistan. The future of the rest of the tournament has been darkened in uncertainty. On Monday, the BCCI authorized doubts by confirming that IPL would resume on Saturday in Bengaluru.
Tuesday morning, the captain of the SRH Pat Cummins and Head were appointed to the Australian team for the final of the world testing championship against South Africa, starting on June 11. There have been doubts about their involvement, since Hyderabad has already been excluded from the race for the playoffs.
According to Espncricinfo, the skipper of Cummins and Head Hyderabad informed the SRH of their decision to return to India. Cummins director Neil Maxwell confirmed that the Australian skipper sought to return to India.
“Pat has a responsibility as a captain of the franchise and plans to return,” Maxwell told News Corp on Tuesday, as quoted by Espncricinfo.
The head of the Australia Cricket national teams, Ben Oliver, assured that the board of directors will work to work with players on their individual decisions to return to India or not in the next two days.
SRH, which is already out of the playoff race, will conclude their campaign with three outside games against LSG (May 19) in Lucknow, against RCB (May 23) in Bengaluru and against KKR in Delhi (May 25).
