BCCI Breaks Silence On Reports Of Withdrawal From Asia Cup 2025

The BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, said that any question linked to participation in events in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has been presented at any level of discussion, adding that any new or relationship around is of a purely speculative and imaginary nature. On Monday, various reports emerged about the BCCI informing the ACC on its decision to withdraw from the women’s cup in Asia for women in Sri Lanka and the Male Asian Cup, which takes place in June and September, citing continuous tensions between India and Pakistan.
It should be noted that the ACC is currently headed by the president of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohin Naqvi, who is also the Minister of the Interior of the Central Government of the country.
“Since this morning, it has been taken into account of certain news on the BCCI’s decision not to participate in the Asian Cup and the emerging teams of the Asia Cup, the two events of the ACC. Such news has been devoid of truth, to date, the BCCI has not even discussed or taken such measures concerning the ACC events which arise from it, without writing the series, IPL and the IPL and subcontractor series, both men and women.
“The Cup Matter Asia or any other ACC event problem has not been discussed at any level, hence a new or a report on which is purely speculative and imaginary. We can say that the BCCI, because and any discussion on the events of the ACC takes place and that any important decision is made, the same goes through the media,” said Saikia in a press release issued at the IAN.
India has accommodation rights for the male Asian Cup, which should occur in September this year in T20 format. In addition to India and Pakistan, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Oman are supposed to be part of the tournament.
India is the title champion of the Male Asian Cup, after defeating Sri Lanka in the 2023 final in 50 format on Colombo. This event was also affected by India-Pakistan tensions. Originally which will be fully hosted by Pakistan, the 2023 Asian Asian Cup took place in a hybrid model after India refused to travel there and all of its matches moved to Sri Lanka.
This hybrid model was again replayed for the ICC Champions 2025 Trophy – The tournament was to be fully played in Pakistan. But India which pressure for a hybrid model meant that all its games were played in Dubai. While Pakistan collapsed on the league stadium, India finally won the trophy in Dubai on March 9.
After emerging information on the withdrawal of India, several political leaders such as the national spokesman for the BJP, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, opposition head in the assembly of the State of the Rajasthan, Tika Ram Jully, and the head of the JD (U) KC Tyagi had reappeared the events that had hosted the decision of the BCCI.
