The Ballon d’Or award ceremony will take place on September 22 of this year and the number of awards for women and men will be equal for the first time, the organizers announced on Monday.
Prizes for the best female goalkeeper, the best youth player and the top female scorer in a club or a national team were added to the list this year for the Chatelet Theater in Paris, France Football Magazine and UEFA.
This means that there will be six prizes for male players and six for players, with an additional price, the Socrates Award, for actions that promote solidarity, open to men or women.
The nominees will be announced in early August.
The award ceremony last year was overshadowed by a boycott by Real Madrid after learning that their Brazilian striker Vinicius Junior had not won the prize for the best male player, who went to Rodri de Manchester City.
