The bad weather in Mumbai on Wednesday can have an impact on the vital conflict of the Indian Premier League between the Indians of Mumbai and the Capitals of Delhi, the two teams left for the fourth place in the playoffs. The result of the competition could decide the fourth KO team with Gujarat Titans, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Punjab Kings being the other three. A victory for Mi will take them to the KOs and lock the four qualifying teams while a victory for the DC ranked fifth will keep its hopes alive, making its last confrontation of the League against PBKS on May 24 a direct elimination match.
The meteorological department of India issued a forecast and a warning for “the thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, strong precipitation and courageous winds (50-60) in isolated places” on Tuesday evening for Mumbai and certain adjacent areas.
Meanwhile, regular precipitation forced an early conclusion to the training session for Mumbai Indians and Delhi capitals at the Wankhede stadium.
While the two teams were to train from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time, they were forced to cancel their training much earlier and the central square as well as the round-up areas of fast quisors were covered and the flood lights extinct at 8:30 p.m.
The Mumbai Indians were the first team to leave the field while Delhi players remained playing light training, but were finally forced to do so.
Given the weather, the IPL had previously announced an additional hour of play to add to Tuesday matches, including the League scene, which could mean that the matches could end much later in the night.
“Similar to the stage of the playoffs, an additional hour will be allocated to the game conditions for the remaining matches of the League scene, from Tuesday, May 20,” said the IPL.
